Great litter pick in Parson Cross today

20 Dec

It was cold but dry and sunny this morning when a dozen of us set off from Parson Cross Learning Zone for a ‘festive litter pick’. We collected over 20 black bags of litter as we travelled down Buchanan Road and back again. The most enthusiastic pickers were Charlie from Parson Cross Scouts and Rebecca and Alison from St Catherine’s School. The clean-up was followed by hot chocolate, mince pies and carols in the Learning Zone. We were soon joined by 3 more local kids who asked for bags so they could go back outside and carry on tidying up the area. It seems litter picking is infectious!

CANCELLED – Communities Portfolio Budget Challenge Event tomorrow is cancelled

13 Dec

Budget Consultation event on 14th December postponed

I am writing to let you know that a decision has been made to postpone the Sheffield City Council Communities Portfolio Budget Consultation event due to take place tomorrow and to reschedule for the new year. Tomorrow’s event at the Town Hall will no longer be going ahead.

This decision has been made because of the recently announced Government intention to unveil new spending plans this week regarding the funding of adult social care. It is not yet known what these plans will include and so, given the uncertainty about how our budget position will be impacted, it is felt the event should be put back until more is known.

I am sorry for any inconvenience this delay might cause. If you are booked to attend the event we will automatically reserve your place on the rescheduled event in the new year. We will be in touch again to let you know the new details as soon as we have identified a new date in January.

Have Your Say on on Children’s Surgery and Hyper Acute Stroke Services across South York shire

13 Dec

People living in Barnsley, Bassetlaw, Chesterfield, Doncaster, Rotherham, Sheffield and Wakefield are being invited to share their thoughts on proposals to change our region’s services for:

• Children’s surgery and anaesthesia

• Hyper acute stroke, where patients are treated and given care for up to the first 72 hours after having a stroke.

Depending on where you live, some patients have better experiences and access to services than others – and doctors, nurses and healthcare experts all agreed that this shouldn’t happen – and have come together to change it.

Between Monday 3 October 2016 and Friday 20 January 2017, members of the public are invited to share their views on the proposed option for the future of these services – with a final decision expected to be made by clinical commissioners in February.

If you would like to find out more you can visit www.smybndccgs.nhs.uk or call 0114 305 4487 for more information.
