Nominations for Shiregreen & Brightside Councillor’s Awards 30/3/17

24 Feb

Councillors Peter Price, Dawn Dale and Garry Weatherall, want to show their appreciation for all the fantastic things that happen in the Shiregreen and Brightside ward, by hosting an awards ceremony on Thursday 30th March 2017 at Shiregreen Working Men’s Club.

We would like local people to nominate groups, organisations or individuals.

Do you know:

A young person who is an asset to their school or community? Perhaps they have shown a commitment to helping others or worked exceptionally hard at school.

An organisation who work hard to make the ward a better place?

A sports team who deliver brilliant activities for the community?

A volunteer who gives time and effort to supporting others or improving the area?

A local worker who goes above and beyond their duties?

An excellent role model or inspiring individual?

We are open to suggestions for categories or ideas of how we can make this a great evening for the community. If you know of any local bands, singers, dancers etc who might like to come perform please let us know.

We will need all nominations by  9th March 2017.

Great British Spring Clean – Shiregreen – Friday 3 March 2017

17 Feb

Sanctuary Housing and Sheffield City Council are organising a litter pick in the neighbourhood on Friday 3 March and want to hear from local people on where they think needs a spring clean in the area.

We are also encouraging volunteers to offer a hand in collecting litter between 10am and 3pm on the day with a free lunch and raffle prizes offered to those taking part!

We are looking to clean up 2 spaces in the morning and 2 spaces in the afternoon!

The event coincides with The Great British Spring Clean campaign to bring together people from across the country to clear up litter from 3 – 5 March.

Volunteers will meet outside the Sanctuary Housing office in Beck Road, Shiregreen, shortly before 10am on 3 March when they will be provided with equipment.

Please help spread the word and help us help local people have their say and get involved!

If you need more information please contact Naomi Hinch on 0114 203 7562 or email neighbourhoods

Let Sheffield councillors know what their priorities should be.

17 Feb

We would like to know what people living in Sheffield feel should be the priorities for their ward councillors.  Each ward in the city has three councillors who work to improve things for local people and represent them when decisions are made in the Town Hall.

If your councillors are better informed about the things that are important to you then they can focus their attention on specific issues in your neighbourhood.  The information you provide in this short questionnaire will help them identify the service providers, community organisations and local residents they need to work with.
